Chapter One :Chapter 1

"Burt Lawson, hello. I'm System Eleven."

"You've already died, but now that you're bound to the system, you can come back to life by doing missions! Want a second chance?"

Even though Burt was on his last breath, he didn’t hesitate for a second. "Yes."

He had been murdered—by his own twin brother.

Just thinking of the Lawson family made his chest twist in pain, the bitterness crawling down every nerve. All his life, he’d been healthier than Lucas just because he’d drawn more nutrients in the womb—at least that’s what everyone believed.

The family adored Lucas, doted on him left and right, blaming Burt for everything that went wrong. But even then, Burt never held it against his brother. They were born minutes apart, but he'd always chosen to be the sensible one—taking the blame, carrying the burdens, all of it for Lucas.

And in return? Lucas hated him to the bone. Killed him like it was nothing.

The worst part? Even when the truth came out, his parents didn’t defend him. Didn’t say a damn word in his favor. They covered for Lucas, pretending nothing ever happened, letting him die unjustly without ever clearing his name.

What a joke.

His short life turned out to be a cruel lie.

But he wasn’t ready to give up.

So, the System threw him into his first mission world.

“Burt, from now on, you’ll be living with the Ford family. You have to behave, alright? No trouble.” The middle-aged man kept talking as they stepped into the Fords' estate. Burt followed him through the grand gates, eyes wide at the extravagant garden ahead.

This place screamed elite. The landscaping alone felt like something out of a fantasy movie.

"You okay, Burt?" The man next to him sounded worried.

Snapping out of it, Burt looked at the man—his new "father" in this borrowed body. The original teen had died in some accident, and the system had jumped on the chance to slip Burt in. So here he was, alive again—sort of. All he had to do was finish the tasks from the system, and he could really live again.

That thought brought a soft smile to his face. His eyes looked gentle and calm. "I'm alright, Dad."

Mr. Lawson nodded and turned back to chatting with the estate’s head staff.

Technically, the mansion belonged to the Ford family. Their elderly butler had retired to care for his sick wife, and Mr. Lawson had stepped in as the new one. Burt’s mission? Win over the Ford family's young master—Henry Ford.

In his mind, Burt called out to the system. “Eleven, this ‘win over the main lead’ stuff, how exactly do I do that?”

"Just increase his affection toward you! When it hits 100, mission success~" chirped Eleven.

"Raise his affection?" Burt blinked. "So, like... become besties?"

"Uhh... something like that?" Eleven replied. "As long as that affection bar goes up, call it whatever you want—best friend, soul bro, whatever~"

"Alrighty then, let’s give it a go." Burt nodded and glanced around the place again. "Now that I’m in, hopefully this Henry guy isn’t too hard to get close to."

"You’ve got this! I believe in you!" Eleven cheered.

Burt grinned. "Hehe, thanks."

The old butler guided them through the estate, pointing out the various rooms. Then he checked the time and said, “Young master should be back any minute now.”

With that, they all moved to the front entrance.

The butler bowed respectfully.

Burt looked up—and for a second, he forgot to breathe.

The boy walking in had that tall, lean build straight out of a magazine, with a chill, almost aloof vibe. His face was ridiculously good-looking, and under the sunlight, it practically lit up. But the thing that really hit Burt was those deep, ice-cold eyes—just one glance from them, and it felt like your whole world paused.
